(22,166 posts)he was selling this stuff to our adversaries. He's so greedy, so vain that he was seeking any attention despite what it took to get any respect or attention paid to him. Well, now he's going to have all of the attention now, being that he's the most single worse case of espionage ever in the history of our Country. I only hope that perhaps, perhaps that some of the idiots surrounding him kept some of the stuff away from him. God I only hope so. If any of our informants were killed as a result of his traitorous actions, he should pay w/ the highest price too.

Our allies might want to deal with him. Also, if he can't deliver on some foreign promises now that he has been outed, some of his customers, or potential customers, might want to see him "go through some things."
OTOH, there is a risk of making him into a martyr for his followers in the US and abroad.

(54,068 posts)I won't say they wouldn't fuck with him somehow, but an outright hit is too naked for world politics.
It'd be interesting if, since Trump is largely a function of Russian election meddling, other pro-Western countries were to start taking clandestine steps to ensure future Trumplets don't achieve the Republican nomination. Our unreliability as an ally would certainly justify Germany or France or South Korea protecting their interests by ensuring a sane & loyal politician ends up in the general election. If you were Poland or Rumania or Israel or Sweden, wouldn't you be nervous about Trump's remaining political viability event after he got busted trying to end democracy at Putin's behest?

Any documents that made it to the White House residence were these boxes Trump carried around with him, explained Stephanie Grisham, a former senior White House staffer. Usually the body man would have brought them upstairs for Trump or someone from the outer-Oval at the end of the day. They would get handed off to the residence and just disappear.
Boxes of documents even came with Trump on foreign travel, following him to hotel rooms around the world including countries considered foreign adversaries of the United States.
There was no rhyme or reason it was classified documents on top of newspapers on top of papers people printed out of things they wanted him to read. The boxes were never organized, Grisham said. Hed want to get work done on long trips so hed just rummage through the boxes. That was our filing system.
Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in refusing to turn over documents, at times suggesting that the records are his and should not be given back to the Archives.

(2,840 posts)classified documents in there that could use to entrap Trump. Know what I mean? If it turned up in use in Russia or China or North Korea or somewhere, it would be an automatic trace-back to Trump. But I don't know if these guys do those kinds of setups. Seems like it'd be an easy enough kind of thing to do, tho...

(15,320 posts)It doesn't matter when he sold the secrets in terms of how damaging they are. At any rate he stole them, so whether or not he began selling them before his presidency ended doesn't change anything.
iemanja
(53,072 posts)not that he sold them. If he did, obviously that is illegal.
But the mere fact he carried them around with him to other countries very much implies he's doing something with them he shouldn't. That is the whole point. It's possible he stopped doing that when he left office, but then why did he take the documents with him?
the man never did any real work, his job is and has always been GRIFTER
LuckyCharms
(17,459 posts)It sounds like some of those documents were at the highest possible classification.
Only a very few select people are even allowed to lay their eyes on them, let alone travel to another country with them.
Sounds like a lot of those documents should have been immediately returned to a SCIF upon being viewed by Trump.
The reason they were not probably is because there are several people in collaboration with him concerning whatever he did with these documents.

(2,840 posts)but royally p'o'd about it, too. I did my time not only in the service, but also as DoD when I do out of the Air Force. 20 years DoD. I only had a Secret Clearance for most of my time, but I did go up to Top at one point. Regardless, it rankles that I lived my life on the up-and-up and worried each time I took that E-Quip that my memory had failed me on something or they'd dig something up I'd completely blown off as unimportant in my life, or they'd take exception to the fact I was Pagan.
I just updated my resume a little bit ago. I'm thinking it might not be bad to work from home doing some clerical work or web work, if I can find something legit. Ran into one of the old security briefings. Wondered as I scanned it if Trump had to sit through that briefing and if he stayed off his phone long enough to listen to any of it! Just mad me madder than hops that he's slapped all of us in the face who did our time honorably in service to our country and our fellow Americans. I'd really like to have the pleasure of slapping him back!
