What's with Kinzinger?

Disgusting': Kinzinger slams Republicans who went after Hillary Clinton over her emails but are now defending Trump taking classified material to Mar-a-Lago
Taylor Ardrey Aug 28, 2022, 11:34 AM

"The hypocrisy of folks in my party that spent years chanting 'lock her up' about Hillary Clinton because of some deleted emails or 'wiping a server' are now out there defending a man who very clearly did not take the national security of the United States to heart," Kinzinger told NBC's NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

Will we see a lot more of this in the coming days?

I sure hope so.

Dem vets I know of are DU vets. The ones that bug me most are those in government employment blurring the lines of military vs politics, like Drumpf's former Navy doctor (now congresscritter). "Veterans" are no longer in the military, are civilians with the Constitutional rights. Active military, wearing uniforms and medals, are supposed to keep their political opinions out of their military role - and out of their uniforms. But now that Separation of Church/State and Separation of everything else like Military/politics are out the window.

In '04 I tracked down some of my shipmates from my ship in Vietnam. It was a web-ring, and at first there was a welcome and reminiscing, but it didn't last long because they soon went to flaming KERRY. Back then I thought "debating" (aka, arguing) was something that would work (it DOESN'T). So the futility became clear and I abandoned ship, no more contact with shipmates.

During Coup 2000 I was disgusted to see about a dozen Medal of Honor winners in their official caps and the Medal, standing and saluting on Shrub's stage for the cameras.

And everywhere are Navy wingnut vets - BANNON, George NOORY (Art BELL wannabe), Drumpf's ex-doctor. I guess "everywhere" is hyperbole for "three."

pretty thoroughly disgusted with the Republican Party. The way he talks, it seems like he doesn't think that party can be saved. I think he's right. The majority of the party is made up of Trumpers, and they're just about hopeless. Kinzinger seems like a man without a party.

But non fascist GOP members are called RINOs.

I used to be able to disagree with Republicans, now if they call themselves Republican I have to assume they intend to destroy America to "save it."

And try to take in all the conservatives that have been abandoned by the Trump Republicans. There are, quite frankly, a shit ton of them.

They may be our ideological opponent, but as long as they're willing to come to the table and debate and negotiate in good faith, there's room for them at the table.

He probably figured he couldn't win as an independent. Why he stays in that party is beyond me. I don't know why folks think they can fix this. It doesn't want to be fixed, it's quite happy embracing fascism, and it's not coming back to reality. Today's Republican party needs to be burned to the ground.

...he has no chance as an independent.
We lost one seat in the house, so all the district lines had to be redrawn.
The bluish purple part of the old district is now smaller & a larger area of rural & agribusiness is now part of the district.
The blue area is too small for a dem to win, and the rubes are too abundant for an independent candidate to either win or swing the seat blue.
He knew that, which is why he didn't announce as an indie.
Half of the old district was cult territory, now it's well over half.
BTW: I live in that district.

"...and the rubes are too abundant for an independent candidate to either win or swing the seat blue."

I moved out of a rural area a couple of years ago. Like most rural areas, it was conservative and religious. But they'd vote for a dead cat if it had an "R" after its name. And if Christ came back with the same message, they'd put him back up on that cross.

Money line starts at 25 seconds.

Geez, before AK, we had a dem congresswoman.
But, our county had a population explosion, and lines were redrawn for proportional reasons.
That moved a bunch of blue areas into other districts and suddenly we're part of Illitucky. Well, it's not that bad. Our state rep is a moderate R, and our state senator is a dem. Plus, we've got Durbin, Duckworth, & Pritzker.
