# 1 is not true - scientists had been predicting a pandemic would happen. The US under President Obama had a pandemic playbook. I believe the trump admin threw it away.

#2. Depends on who's initial response - the trump admin tried their best to down play it, especiallly when they thought it was only going to hurt blue states.

#3. Social distancing and mask wearing are the basics of pandemic protocol. Since these two things were the only way to fight the pandemic at the begining, the republicans decided to oppose them for no other reason than politicical gain.
