What about the lawyer who signed off that all docs had already been returned?

After NARA retrieved the first 15 boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago, one of Trump's lawyers signed a declaration that all classified documents have been returned and that none remain at Mar-a-Lago.

Isn't that perjury?

And even if the lawyer were to argue that she didn't commit perjury because her client had misinformed her...
Is it really that easy? Shouldn't a lawyer have to officially declare in a legally binding way that she lied because her client had lied to her first?

Aren't there professional repercussions if a lawyer lies on behalf of a client in a legal document?

1. IMO, if not unlawful/illegal, then there's a professional ethics issue involved.

2. It's quite possible that TFG lied to his counsel, a huge reason why he can't hire good lawyers.

Most competent lawyers won't go near trump because 1. he won't listen to their advice, 2. he is untrustworthy in a one on one discussion and 3. he won't pay them.

At the very least, the lawyer should have known better, and yes, that lawyer is in ethical hot water. When you deal with MF45, you get soiled.

needs to be charged under the espionage act. Being a lawyer shouldn't be a get out of jail card.

Knowing the extent of TFG’s infamous sloth, we know these crimes weren’t committed in a vacuum. It is unlikely that hauling in these all-in enablers and abettors will result in any sort of uprising. Also, starting them on the road to justice won’t cause a ripple in the precious mid-terms.

So, how come they are still out there enabling and abetting? It’s not like TFG will lift a tiny inadequate finger on their behalf.

9. Not enough facts known to know if the lawyer is in trouble

If the lawyer simply said no further classifed docs remain "based on the representations of my client" then he is not in trouble.

If, on the other hand, the lawyer actually reviewed the docs and then said there were no more classified docs remaining at MAL then big trouble.

We will find out eventually.
