i think joe just cancelled the student debt that he could not discharge in bankruptcy for a law degree he pretty much never got to use. i'm hoping that is where the light will get in.

i'm not the only 1 here who has lost a loved 1 down that fascist rabbit hole. i do think when reality sets in, many will try to crawl out. if there are no old friends there to lend them a hand, many will fall right back.
i have no special knowledge except what i learned as a hospice worker- how to hold space for someone who is going through something traumatic. and this will be traumatic.

7. I was warning people of this during the leadup to Iraq II

When the reich-wing shit slowly started creeping into daily dialogue in response to "You're either with us or with the terrorists." When people thought the appropriate response to 9/11 and Islamic terrorism was to get louder and more forceful with "We are a Christian nation." When people followed our then extremist president by... getting more extreme themselves. Some of us saw warning signs that a growing number of people wanting to "rebuild" post-TWOT* America as a far-right nation with Christianity becoming the law of the land. Which meant turning women into second-class citizens. Which meant homophobia. Which meant transphobia.

While many were screaming "Get Saddam before he gets us!" - even though it's highly unlikely he could get us, I was expressing my concerns about the growing extremism here. I was saying then that our biggest threat is not Iraq, but, Christian extremists. Extremists emboldened by a president who claimed "god talked to him". Extremists emboldened by John Asscrack.

I was told I was crazy, I was stupid, I was paranoid, I was a terrorist sympathizer, and called all sorts of nasty names and slurs. "AMERICA! Fuck yeah!"... More like "America! FUCK YOU!" "America! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!" - said by people who now swear fealty to Drumpf and Putin and Hitler, and spend everyday working to destroy America.

Some of us saw the writing on the wall. And yet, here we are because as you said... Too many people letter them - and still are letting them.
