Can a former president be indicted? One way or another Garland is going to make history.
In many ways our democracy is still very young. We lack many laws for many things because they have never been needed. In a sick, harsh, evil way Trump is forcing our democracy, the people, to grow up. Growing pains if you will.
Trump has tested many things no former president has ever tested. It was unthinkable. Trump tested every loophole he could find in our constitution, our laws. He is unique in that way because he is a narcissist. He has no shame , no guilt, no empathy, he has no soul. He is flat out evil and hell bent on revenge. Evil has always had many followers which explains many of the Trump voters. Trump voters who are not evil, can only be explained as foolish people.
Garland will have to answer that question one final time. Our leaders will have to pass laws to protect our democracy from the flaws, loopholes, Trump has tested. It's time to grow up.

(5,125 posts)Someone lying directly to the World from the seat of Presidential Power was unthinkable.
Only Kings and Tyrants did that and the checks and balances and the 4th Estate would keep that from happening.
IF NOT, the People would rise up and drive that tyrant out with tar and feathers if needed.
At least that is how I perceive the mindset from historical documents.

(4,913 posts)However, many Americans decided to turn their back on our history and take up ignorance as a religion. They decided to unconditionally follow a corrupt man which is as Un-American as you can get. Many of them have already paid a heavy price. Many have died, many have gone to prison. Many more will follow.

(5,125 posts)BUT we don't do the tar and feathers so much any more.
Back in the day, they literally put tar on bad politicians and feathers too and then tied them to a railroad tie and sent them on a train out of town. It was a thing.

(153 posts)... that the tar had to be heated to around 180 degrees so that it would flow. The feathers were used to keep the body from sticking to everything it touched. Imagine a disgraced politician flailing around in pain covered in hot tar. It was brutal.
