Rethugs are now setting their sights on banning the pill and many forms of contraception.

Democrats, we have a golden message to bring to the people to INSPIRE them to get out and vote.

Democratic Party candidates need to run ads calling out their anti-choice, anti-freedom Rethug opponents by exposing their opposition to choice and the pill.

Are Rethugs opposed to condom use as well? Many are.

Expose them. Embarrass them.

Palin is an anti-pill lunatic. Expose her anti-freedom FASCIST ass.

Just a glaring example.

GOTV!!

after all, it was Griswold v Connecticut that established a right to contraception, and Eisenstadt v. Baird that extended that right to unmarried folks.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griswold_v._Connecticut Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479 (1965)

On June 7, 1965, the Supreme Court issued a 7–2 decision in favor of Griswold that struck down Connecticut's state law against contraceptives.

Followed by:

Right to birth control for unmarried couples, 1972
Eisenstadt v. Baird (1972) extended Griswold’s holding to unmarried couples. [21] The argument in Eisenstadt was that it was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to deny unmarried couples the right to use contraception when married couples did have that right (under Griswold).[22] Writing for the majority, Justice Brennan wrote that Massachusetts could not enforce the law against married couples because of Griswold v. Connecticut, so the law worked "irrational discrimination" if not extended to unmarried couples as well.

The idea of restricting and prohibiting contraception goes way back.

Remember how Loretta Lynn's country music song, "The Pill" was banned by most conservative country music radio stations?

You are 110% correct.

I'm going to do an upcoming thread on that song being banned by FASCISTS.

They've colossally pissed off a large portion of the female electorate and not a few on the men's side with that Dobbs nonsense. But just in case there are a few people who aren't ready to run Republicans out of town on a rail, here they are trying to ban contraception.

That’s really what this is all about, and has been from the start.

The powers that be in conservative American politics KNOW that they are losing demographically. The fewer children affluent, conservative white couples have, the worse off it is for them. So they need more white babies.

That’s what it’s about. It’s ALWAYS been about this.

They’ll get a lot Black, Latino, and other ‘undesirable’ babies as well. Maybe in greater number than White babies. So what happens to them?

And they know that majority is shrinking, so that’s why they want abortions and birth control done away with.

Sure, there will be more black and brown babies too, but just by shear numbers, there will be MORE white babies.

Wealthy white folks tend to have fewer children because they have access to the various family planning services the minorities do not have.

It’s a numbers game anyway, and we should and could have seen this coming for 40 years.

The upside is, in my opinion, the internet. It allows young people to access information that might otherwise be kept from them (read “banned books” ) as well as helping to increase the numbers of the non-religious.

That’s the other thing that scares them - the diminishing church attendance. Non-churched people are harder to control, so it will be no surprise to me that we will start to see more and more of the Ten Commandments in the schoolhouse bullshit, and soon, particularly with this Supreme Court, the overturning of Abington School District Vs. Schemp, just watch.

It's not just birth control pills that they sell. There are patches, shots, vaginal rings, sponges, spermicides, etc. It's a huge market for the pharmaceutical companies and for pharmacies themselves.
