(5,125 posts)3. FACTS: Whitmer accepted 2 Debates - Oct 13th and Oct 25th.
https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/elections/2022/08/24/whitmer-dixon-debates-michigan-governor-election/7883134001/
Whitmer's campaign said Wednesday she has accepted invitations to participate in two debates against Dixon, the Republican nominee, ahead of the Nov. 8 general election.
The first would be held in Grand Rapids on Oct. 13, hosted by WOOD-TV, and the second in Detroit on Oct. 25, hosted by WXYZ, WXMI and WSYM. Both would be televised statewide.
But Dixon said that with absentee ballots going out in late September, she has accepted a proposed date of Sept. 20 for the Grand Rapids debate. Dixon also suggested alternative Grand Rapids dates of Sept. 22, 27, or 29. She said the Detroit debate should also be held earlier, on Oct. 17 or 24, which are dates she said were proposed by one of the TV stations involved and accepted by her.
Dixon said she is "interested in accepting" two other debate invitations, one from Fox 2 Detroit and another from a group of TV stations serving the Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Traverse City and Cadillac markets.
