Something is...UP.

Last edited Wed Aug 31, 2022, 01:34 AM - Edit history (3)

I think everyone pretty much sensed it after this weekend when the GOP’s angriest mouthpieces suddenly got quiet.

I joked with a friend at the NYT On Sunday night saying “I’d love to see the group chat from the so-called sane Republicans. I wonder if they’re having ‘THAT’ meeting like the GOP did before they sent their representatives up the hill to speak to Nixon the week he resigned?”

Said friend noted that the so-called sane members of the GOP hierarchy (McConnell, Grassley, Graham) have more than likely been briefed on what 45 had in terms of those documents, who’s implicated in their theft and misuse, and who and WHAT’S been damaged. Not just the Republicans being briefed, but the Democratic members of the senate intelligence committee.

And then?

That NYT editorial calling for 45’s indictment.

Then we had Lindsey‘s freak out over what would happen “IF” his Kompromat Keeper was to be indicted.

He seemed really upset. LOL. About an “if”. I mean…why would he speculate on THAT? 🤔

Next, you had Ben Shapiro effectively pitching The Dotard over the side.

From Murdoch’s NY Post

“The founder of the Daily Wire news site and the host of the daily podcast ‘The Ben Shapiro Show’ suggested that the GOP should nominate a non-Trump candidate in 2024 to make it harder for Democrats to appeal to independent voters.

‘There is a reason Democrats are eager to keep Trump at the center of the conversation: half of independents say Trump is a major factor in their vote, and they’re breaking 4-1 for the Democrats,’ Shapiro tweeted. ‘Republicans shouldn’t play that game. If they do, they’re cruising for a bruising.””

Drudge has been leading with pics of 45 in an orange jumpsuit, with a rolling headline reading “Indictment Watch” and today’s blaring “Dementing Don” over his rants on Truth Social for the last 36 hours.

We’ve gotten the news about the internals from the GOP this cycle and even the words from Mitch’s wattled mouth weren’t good. The Senate looks like it may hold and there’s apparently emerging paths for the House to possibly, once-impossibly do the same. Independents are breaking 4-1 for the incumbent party. An absolute break from the norm, and the blame is laid at the Dobbs decision AND a referendum on 45 even though he’s not on the ticket.

Then today? Murdoch’s NY Post editorial:

“Attorney General Merrick Garland’s raid on Mar-a-Lago has ex-President Donald Trump back in the news. That’s a problem for Republicans, who need to move beyond him,"

It went further. “The current dynamics SHOULD make for a Republican landslide" in the 2022 midterm elections.

"But if the focus is on Trump instead, enraged Democrats will unite, pause their intercine warring while independents will abstain or vote against the GOP."

They’re using words like “albatross” and “boat anchor” to describe him.

It feels like people who are supposed to know things know SOMETHING about what that Mar-A-Lago visit was fully about, and they’re trying to get upwind of where the sh*t is headed.

It started with that sudden quiet this weekend.

There’s a shift in the air and it ain’t just fall coming in.

Something is UP.

Hell, the original classified docs were identified in January, then another tranche in Jun. The August haul might not have reached the Intel Committees yet, but the earlier ones surely have.

to feed limbaugh and sons. breitbart had a heart attack and bannon took over.

breitbart took over the drudge role - basically the kremlin took over control of rw radio through limbaugh.....US deep state got took. i'll bet there are pics of limbaugh playing golf on trump courses with russians.

is drudge going to make a comeback now that limbaugh rots?

bannon needs to talk about breitbart

AND THEN, there's the issue of abortion. Keep him or can him, that's the real albatross hangi --- it was around their necks, but in May, it dropped. The bird is now wrapped around their balls and biting hard, looking for a lunch snack.

I've always wondered why Lindsey Graham is so close to TFG. This scares the shit out of me BTW. Graham is one of the gang of eight and if I'm not mistaken, Minority leader in Senate judiciary committee.
Is it too far a leap to wonder outloud if Graham is keeping Trump in the loop?

Adding that I'm talking about Senate Intel committee. My bad

45 has lost his security clearance. If Graham is sharing intel-based info with him—for whatever reason…he’s in DEEP SH*T too. I would hope that with all of his fecklessness, his duplicity and lily-livered-ness that he would hold his tongue on classified matters with someone who has had their clearance revoked.

Am I missing something? Are we “warring” with one another? Is that how Justice Jackson was put on the SC? Is that how the first gun legislation in years was passed? Our warring didn’t get in the way of passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. I’m glad the President is standing tall and pushing back on this malarkey. The right just can’t stand the fact that we Democrats are in array.

Supposedly we are always divided progressives against other dems, etc. and we can't get out of our own way. They kinda forgot how we united to elect Biden and most of us are still quite pleased with the results, even though for most of us (myself included) Biden wasn't our first choice, and I'm pretty sure most other Dems are feeling the same.

I don't think we can convince them we aren't at war with each other, but maybe that's an advantage for us.

The top Repubs know Trump is done, the DOJ filing laid out how his passports and other personal items were mixed in with top secret documents. He is done for, likely indicted, but nonetheless would get destroyed in an election in every state that voted against him last time.

So now they pivot to Desantis and hope to keep the Trump base.

What galls me is this judge's decision lean on allowing this so-called special master given the con has no standing to file such a claim. Besides, who the heck is this judge to make such a call?

These are long established political operatives with their own sources in the DOJ and their own security clearances.

But they are also America hating scumbags, they're just trying to gauge whether or not they can make the reveals incremental enough to still be able to defend Trump. They need Trump to have a prayer in November.

Until now, I've been under the assumption that the DOJ knew these documents were either being shopped or being exposed to foreign nationals, that was the urgency for the raid. But I'm not so sure anymore, these were stored so carelessly that they could not be allowed to remain unsecured. That's probably going to be a line for the GOP on defending Trump or not, if it's found out that Trump shopped these he will be abandoned. But if it's carelessly storing them, the GOP will stand by him.
