US seeks more info on Chinese company’s North Dakota project
By JAMES MacPHERSON

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Federal authorities reviewing a Chinese company’s purchase of land in North Dakota for a wet corn milling plant say more information is needed before they can decide whether the project might be detrimental to national security.

Fufeng Group’s planned $700 million project in Grand Forks is near a U.S. Air Force base, prompting opponents to raise concerns about potential for espionage.

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States told Fufeng in a letter this week that the information the company has provided is “insufficient.” The company said in a statement that it has been “open and cooperative” with U.S. officials and will comply with the government’s request for more information.

Grand Forks City Administrator Todd Feland said Friday that infrastructure work being done by the city for the project would be halted until the review is complete. He said the review is expected to take up to three months.

Chinese citizens as employees long term anyway? Zero?

And it’s 100% local corn.

NK Air Force base probably not top spy target, I would speculate?!

Why can’t news agencies quote the entire sentence instead of a few word clips…it’s ridiculous and then it smells of propaganda.

We’re not stupid, in the majority. Cater to the not stupid, try it!

the Chinese economy....I think there's a similar issue in California with iirc Saudi companies buying up large tracts of land for growing crops exclusively for shipment to Saudi.

6. +1. Hostile foreign powers should not be allowed to purchase large tracts of land in the U.S.

Home of the 319th Reconnaissance Wing assigned to the Air Combat Command, in the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance role.

Nope, China wouldn't be interested in this at all. Not in the least for sure.

In truth that is the only crop you see for miles and miles.

We lived near Wright Patt AFB in Ohio for part of my childhood.

My cousins from Boston would visit by car.

They would get out the car with blank looks on their faces and scream what in the holy hell
do you guys do with all this fricking corn?

We had to explain we didn't eat it all, most of it was feed corn.
Which I prefer to eat rather than typical eating corn, but that is me.

US oligarchs are buying up everything around all the national parks too. If they could buy everything in the parks, they'd be on top of that too.
