Ok, let's assume that Trump has told the truth about the docs...

Let's assume that they were declassified. Meaning that someone at the Pentagon and the DNI actually went through the whole process of officially declassifying those documents after getting the order from President Trump to do so.

Let's even assume that there is a paper-trail proving that this declassification happened.

Question:
How exactly did those declassified documents go over from being property of all of us We The People to being property of just Trump?

Shouldn't there be a paper-trail that the ownership-rights of the freshly-declassified documents were transfered from the US government to the person Donald Trump?

Isn't there usually a paper-trail if a person gives something to the US government or receives something from it?

in the custody of the National Archives no matter what.

The classification thing is a fucking distraction, and only affects the degree to which this behavior was illegal. It has no bearing on the illegal vs legal question -- we're so far past that line you can't see it in the rear view mirror anymore.

What I'm curious about is whether or not these classified documents are numbered and checked in/out like a library book? That way, at least the departments would know where they were. There is no excuse for these to be lying around, president and certainly no former president's possession. Didn't someone think it was strange that there were no classified documents left in the Oval Office complex when he left DC?

He claims to be a highly organized person. That's probably why he's come up with 15-20 excuses...NOT.

It doesn’t matter! He had those papers for one reason or two? His ego of saying that they were is BS! He more than likely was going to use them to blackmail others or sell the them to other countries? He is a traitor, a thief and a liar & will do anything to better himself!

Markings on the documents determine their classification.

Period.
