"He was in the White House just a week ago and he kissed my ass..", paraphrasing the former president. (He was talking about a visit by Mark Zuckerberg a few years ago)
Was that just a misstatement or was it indicative of the advanced dementia now on display by the former guy?
Dementia or not, his comments were deranged in so many ways. For example, he called the FBI and DoJ "vicious monsters" for their search warrant upon his home in Mar-a-Lago. He called Joe Biden an "enemy of the state". If he does have dementia, he is still capable of attacking those people or institutions that he sees as a threat to him, in hopes of tearing them down and defeating them on the field of public relations.
Also, how would his "condition" affect the criminal investigation now ongoing? He is still capable of conspiring to attack his "enemies" and committing crimes as serious as espionage, and attempt to minimize them as nothing more than an overdue library book. If he does not understand the seriousness of his crime, can he be prosecuted for the crime?
These are questions soon to be asked.

(32,086 posts)Sure, Trump may have dementia, Alzheimer's, untreated syphilis, or some other form of mental decline. He probably does, actually. But, this ain't that. His behavior is that of a criminal who knows they've been found out, and is flailing to avoid being caught. Think Jake Blues in the sewer with Carrie Fisher standing over him with a rifle about to shoot him, making every excuse in the book as to why he left her standing at the altar.

Hes a very sick man.

As another DUer recently posted on another topic, we don't care about the method.

(27,816 posts)... explain how they'll still support Trump in 2024 even if he's in prison.
Now the question is whether they'll still support him if he's in a straitjacket.

(111,106 posts)I suspect they would tend to support him more if he was in prison, rather than a straitjacket.

A BULLY continuing to act out because he did not get what he wanted. PROTECTION from possible/probable prosecution for crimes he committed while POTUS.
I am reminded of a question Robert Mueller was asked before Congress about being able to prosecute a former President.."Yes" was his answer.

(26,286 posts)To do that would be to admit he did something wrong and I suspect that's impossible for him.
He knows right from wrong. He just doesn't think any of that responsibility should be expected of him, so he doesn't care.
IMHO, of course.

(12,396 posts)that would be the best end to his nonsense. Maggats can't complain that he was railroaded to prison. Then they would have to recognize their own stupidity in following him.

(82,849 posts)The same guy who gleefully recounted incidents of cops handling suspects roughly was all bent out of shape about the FBI and how the agents executed a search warrant. Oh, he's just so upset that they searched Melania's room and his young son's room (and notice how he didn't mention Barron's name - because he couldn't remember it?).
What a big baby.

(25,871 posts)No, he doesn't have dementia. He is a narcissitic bully who lies constantly and fully believes his lies.
If you've ever been around someone when they are first showing signs of dementia you'd know. My mother-in-law had Alzheimer's. I remember how it was before we realized that was what was going on. I think my sister-in-law is in the very early stages, as an occasional odd turn of conversation is a lot like m-i-l all those years ago.
But not the Donald. Again, he lies constantly, says whatever comes into his head at the moment, but he doesn't have dementia.
