After all, they chose the last three Supreme Court Justices.
For all intents and purposes, they are the legal arm of the Republican Party.
This decision was not made without a lot of thought and strategy, in my opinion.
Their goal appears to be to obstruct the investigation or to slow it down as much as legally possible.
They are more interested in the future of the Republican Party than they are of the law or the Constitution.
They have a vision for America and the conviction of a criminal Republican president is not part of the vision.

(15,751 posts)'' . . . Jones Days influence seems poised to grow. This year, it has been collecting fees from a remarkable assortment of prominent Republican players: a Trump political-action committee; moderates like Senator Susan Collins; Trump allies like Dr. Mehmet Oz; hard-liners like Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the House minority leader, and Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin not to mention an assortment of super PACs supporting fringe candidates like Herschel Walker, the former N.F.L. star who is running for a Senate seat in Georgia. Francisco recently represented former Attorney General Bill Barr before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. McGahn recently began representing Senator Lindsey Graham as he fights a grand jury subpoena to testify about Trumps efforts to overturn the election results in Georgia. The chief of staff to Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is a recent Jones Day alum. The next Republican presidential administration whether it belongs to Trump, DeSantis or someone else will most likely be stocked with Jones Day lawyers. . . '' - NYT

The delay is necessary so that the damage to our intelligence assets/national security can have as much time as possible to be maximized. The granting of this obstruction of justice from the bench will be rewarded with very large amounts of "dark money" from Putin et al into the "right places". The dead bodies piling up because of this treachery in no way bothers this judge, the Orange Ruski and his family, the cabal of crooks in their circle, the MAGA loons, the majority on the SC, the SS or nearly the entirety of the GQP.

(100,095 posts)They are a clear and present danger to this country. They don't do anything useful. All they do is obstruct progress in favor of big money interests and keeping conservative politicians from getting caught with their pants down. They are, as George Carlin, said the "big club". They are bad for this country. They need to go away.
