So, in Barnstable, MA, the election is so secure that....

...not even the election officials can access the ballots!

Actually, this isn't funny.

Voting extended to midnight in Barnstable after primary election ballots locked in broken vault

Polling was extended until midnight in the town of Barnstable on Tuesday after election workers were unable to access ballots trapped in a locked vault, which would not open as the state primary elections got underway.

Barnstable officials said employees in the town clerk’s office tried around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning to enter a vault used to store ballots ahead of the election. The vault would not open, they said, delaying the delivery of ballots to polling locations across the town.

With voting in the town delayed several hours — leaving residents unable to cast ballots for offices including governor, lieutenant governor and state attorney general — Galvin obtained a court order requiring the Barnstable officials to keep polls open until midnight.

State law requires polls in Massachusetts to close at 8 p.m. Galvin said he needed an order from a Suffolk Superior Court judge to extend the voting window.

Infrastructure should include elections.
