I love this board.

It's like I can hang out with 500 of the smartest people I know....some of who are enjoying the moment with life enhancements; just like me. Talking in real time, commenting on reality. And the trip has gotten a shitload stranger than it was 50 years ago....

Thanks all! You keep me sane. Or, it's a damn cost-effective group therapy.

Probably spent the whole night drinking and reading du. Maybe smoking pot, though. I was "Old and In the Way" back in my original manifestation. Because I was listening to "Old and In the Way" by "Old and In the Way" when I did the sign up thing.

What's really fascinating is that I only had 37,540 posts thru 11/8/2016 (13 years). That's when the Russians/GOP shut the site down and forced new names/passwords. Part of their election interference plan, I am sure.

Now, I've got 15,000+ under my current moniker since 12/7/2017 (5 years)....guess I have more opinions to share.

Have a white Oak I planted in the perfect place, by my log home that I built in 1998. Found it growing off the road up to the house, a splendid specimen....it's now got a ~ 14" butt and it's approx. 45* ft tall - straight and true. Friggen gray squirrels are molesting the tree for acorns. Lots of leaves and branches on the ground, because of these varmints.

Then I think....maybe the squirrels are killing suckers and clusters that need trimming....maybe the squirrels are smarter about oak tree management than I am.

On edit, closer to 40'. I tend to have a liberal measurement when it comes to personnel things.

It was growing in a very steep, deep ravine with limited sunlight. The growth rings were very narrow and densely packed. I cut most of it into 1-1/4 inch thick boards and hope, after drying and planing, to end up with 1 inch.

Hope yours is not suffering any disease exacerbated by climate change.

No rot issues, plenty of water during spring run-off from the hill behind it. Morning sun - less direct sunlight, then evening sun. The tree is pretty healthy. Been doing proper branch cuts for 15 years and the skin is disappearing the cuts. A proper oak tree that will get better with age.

I don't like getting angry and feel like I have to get mad to make a point, I hate being mad or upset. But it just gets so overwhelming now. I feel like I made a mistake because people choose to not let you feel happiness even for a second. They point at you for having a mental illness or you're a sick pervert. Wed Sep 7, 2022, 07:27 AM

Like it takes a lot of talking points from the right wing that freedom of speech applies to private enterprise. Basically that people who want that place taken down is violating freedom of speech and basically disregarding the fact they've gotten people to commit suicide, and currently stalking a trans woman across the world right now trying to actively get her killed or to commit suicide. And members here are basically disregarding that because of freedom of speech. Its a huge slap to the face to our community when we are heavily scrutinized and targeted now, shit like this doesn't help us.

I’m a long-time lurker. I try not to post online; have even been lurking since Gore conceded. But Trump derangement will not subside. I need to know that the world hasn’t completely gone insane. How did this happen? The total lack of decency and morals. How is it W seems like a sweet ole peepaw? God(dess) help us. Why can no one see that decency and morals do indeed matter. And I’m from the south and NC. It hurts me so much.
