Apple did some bad thing and some lawyers filed a class action lawsuit. They sent me a link to join the class action. So, what the hell, I did.
They won. They got millions from Apple.
I got $14.45.
As a digital Mastercard.
The rules say you can't use it for partial payments and clearly you can't exceed $14.45.
So what to do? How do you use the entire amount and not leave a few pennies (times a million other leavings of a few pennies) to the genius who decided to pay us with this digital credit card?
For us, Sparkly can accept credit cards through her business' PayPal account. We send in a payment request for $14.45. Then PayPal adds a $0.72 "fee". No go. So we do it again, but this time for $13.73. Bingo!. But no fee. So now the card has a $0.72 balance. (I probably said the payment was for merch not a personal payment.)
We'll do another one tomorrow for the leftover pennies.
Just on the principle of the thing.

(61,695 posts)I can use two forms or electronic payment if the first one zeroes out. Use it to pay for $50 in groceries, then pay the remainder with cash, your own credit or debit card, etc.
I never bother with the class action lawsuits. I have to spend time getting documentation, then I get a tiny check while thw lawyers get millions.
