GWB* went to Harvard, after all. At a minimum, she is sufficiently inexperienced so as to be vulnerable to manipulation. Insecure people are particularly vulnerable.

Bush attended public schools in Midland, Texas until the family moved to Houston after he had completed seventh grade. He then spent two years at The Kinkaid School, a college-preparatory school.[8]
Bush attended high school at Phillips Academy, a boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts, where he played baseball and was the head cheerleader during his senior year.[9][10] He attended Yale University from 1964 to 1968, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.[11] During this time, he was a cheerleader and a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon, serving as the president of the fraternity during his senior year.[12][13][14] Bush became a member of the Skull and Bones society as a senior.[15] Bush was a rugby union player and was on Yale's 1st XV.[16] He characterized himself as an average student.[17] His GPA during his first three years at Yale was 77, and he had a similar average under a nonnumerical rating system in his final year.[18]
In the fall of 1973, Bush entered Harvard Business School. He graduated in 1975 with an MBA degree. He is the only U.S. president to have earned an MBA.[19]

(7,850 posts)Cannon sits on the bench because she's a Federalist Society acolyte and all Trump nominees are on the bench because of Mitch McConnell's wet dream...pack the courts with less than qualified uber-right extremist judges, decimate abortion rights, marriage equality, Obamacare..unbiased free thinkers need not apply...
Cannon's reputation, her ability to judge fairly...gone!..every decision she renders will be suspect and appealed...lawyers will run from her court...and I'm betting she doesn't give a damn...

(32,086 posts)She's that chimp who was handed an AK-47 by some soldiers. It knew enough to operate the thing, but that's about it. So, it pulls the trigger and wantonly shoots up the place. That's Judge Cannon. That's Amy Coney Barratt. That's pretty much everyone Trump and the Federalist Society installed as a judge. They know just enough to be dangerous. The only difference is that it didn't occur to those soldiers that the chimp would shoot up the place. The Federalist Society INTENDS for their monkeys to destroy everything.

managed to "bite" ol' Mitch in the ass...Mitch wanted Trump silenced, gone...far away from the midterms..he was pretty confident espionage would do it, but being the Trump humper she is, Aileen ignored the law, made some crap "law" of her own, and gave Trump a "win"...poor Mitch, not only does that rancid asshole have to tolerate Donnie's profane personal insults, the midterms is a Trump referendum...

(32,086 posts)Just like he handed one to Coney Barratt, Kavanaugh, Gorsuck, and all others he and the Federalist Society rammed through. He was just so arrogant that he didn't think he'd eventually be dodging bullets from these idiots. He should probably expect more of bullet sprays in the near future, because he armed a lot of chimps.

(42,714 posts)She was rated only qualified probably because of her lack of experience.
During his four years in office, the ABA rated 264 of Trumps nominees; 187 were rated well-qualified, 67 were rated qualified, and 10 were rated not qualified.

(61,634 posts)We miss what's going on and underestimate them when we assume they're stupid or, in the case of Trump, have dementia.
They may or may not be stupid. Trump might have dementia. But that's not why they're doing these things. What they're doing is carefully planned. It's calculated. It's designed to get what they want, achieve their goals. Their goals are so inconceivable to those who believe in democracy and the rule of law, it's easy to assume that they're just stupid. They're not.
Is a defense attorney being stupid when she says absurd things to the jury, in an effort to confuse them and get her client off? That's not stupid. That's calculating.

It's literally in the Republican Party platform.

(4,461 posts)The five universal laws of human stupidity:
Law 1: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
* * *
Law 2: The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
Cipolla posits stupidity is a variable that remains constant across all populations. Every category one can imaginegender, race, nationality, education level, incomepossesses a fixed percentage of stupid people. There are stupid college professors. There are stupid people at Davos and at the UN General Assembly. There are stupid people in every nation on earth. How numerous are the stupid amongst us? Its impossible to say. And any guess would almost certainly violate the first law, anyway.
https://qz.com/967554/the-five-universal-laws-of-human-stupidity/amp/
Heres the original paper by Cipolla if anyone is interested. Entertaining and eye opening. I also understand its been recently published as a book as well.

I thought it explained so much about Тяцмpism and the 2016 election.
And the funniest thing is that I still cant really tell if Cipolla wrote it, at least partly, as a joke. It certainly is both humorous and tragic.

(4,616 posts)MAGAS have damn near taken complete control of Congress. State governments are overflowing with them as well as school boards all across the country. The Supreme Court is majority RW extreme now, and we also now have 245 Federal MAGA judges with lifetime appointments seated. This is/has been a plan in the making for decades. It was no secret. It was broadcast on a regular basis. Those who stuck to the plan made a strategic bet, that they could snooker the the voting as well as the non voting public. Get us all bickering and distracted about this and that and while all that bickering and distraction nonsense was going on they would work their plan in the background. And it worked beautifully. The American voting public bought it hook line and sinker. And here we are. Shocked and dismayed about something we've known, or should have know was coming for a very long time. I wouldn't call that moronic and stupid. I'd call that calculating and disciplined.

(33,584 posts)Like so many right-wing assholes, she tried to find bullshit justification for legally dubious opinion.
Ted Cruz, Lindsay Graham and McConnell aren't dumb either, but they constantly give ridiculous justification for the fascist bullshit they try to pull.
Their arguments are either outright false or lack any logical reasoning.
And Trump went to Wharton for two years. Not just a couple of classes. He graduated from the School and has a degree. (Of course, he probably cheated and had others do his work)
They constantly get re-elected. What does that say?

It says that for House Seats at least, the gerrymandering of districts, is a solid way of maintaining power.
It says something about how stupid (not relating to academic intelligence) supporters of said candidates are.
It says something about how money can influence turn out and hence, elections.
The leaders of the Conservative movement are not unintelligent at all. They count on the stupidity of their constituents to motivate participation, and they count on the apathy and frustration of many on our side and/or those who align with us but who choose not to participate in politics.
