"Who are we to judge our president"?

Not my statement!

Eating breakfast at the truck stop here in Coachella! The news was was on CNN and they were talking about Trump and his effort for stealing from WH. Some guy over in the corner yells “who are we to judge our president and what he does out of office?”!

I looked around to see to who said that! Another guy said in response “if it was Biden, Obama or Hillary? You would!”! The 1st guy never said anything else while he sat there!

Now, many of us said the same thing about trump, but we didn't go so far as to attack the government when he "won."

To them, trump is still "their president."

The Constitution and following legislation grants the Office of the President, pretty vast power, but that power is supposed to be used to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity..." That is why we formed the government and created the Constitution. WE THE PEOPLE, not "The President" or "Congress" or "The Courts".

We judge all politicians who we elect to SERVE the constituency. That is why we have elections.

Certainly, powerful people have ALWAYS figured out ways to obtain and retain power, but ultimately, if you believe in our form of government, then the PEOPLE, you and I, are the boss and have not only the right, but the responsibility to judge the President, no matter who it is. If President Biden does something I disagree with, then I should say it. I should have a good reason for disagreeing, but I should certainly be able to and obligated to make that judgement. Same with any Republican President.

When Truman decided to drop the Atomic Bombs on Japan, that decision should have been up for debate and judgement. When Nixon ordered the break in at the Watergate Hotel, when Reagan did not acknowledge HIV/AIDS for years, when W Bush did not acknowledge security briefings about "Osama Bin Laden determined to attack US using airplanes", when President Obama did not push for a public option for the ACA; all of those decisions are subject to judgement.

The issue is that we as a people need to be MORE involved and MORE informed about what decisions are being made for our benefit, or against it. We have some of the least informed and least participatory people in politics and government in countries with modern economies and the level or resources we have. Unfortunately, a lot of that lack of information and participation is by design of powerful and wealthy people who want to keep an outsized influence over how the country is governed. Guy #1 is a testament to that concept.
