How bad is it, really?

If an immoral, unscrupulous, scofflaw absconds with many of the nation's top secrets and hides them in his club for 18 months?

Does it make it any less bad if the criminal is the former president?

It probably makes it worse.

What are the chances that he sold or traded those secrets to another country, most likely an adversary or enemy?

What are the odds that he will ever be held accountable?

After all, when he committed crimes in the past, the Republicans refused to impeach or to convict him for his criminal acts.

Why should they care now if he commits espionage and puts our national security at grave risk?

They are "supposed" to be held to higher standards. That has not always been the case, especially with tfg.

That's an interesting question. As someone who has been alive a long time, I think that the only thing that I can compare today with would be the October, 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. And I don't say that lightly, or to be dramatic. It isn't like we have foreign enemies this time. It is an enternal struggle, and as President Biden said, it is for the soul of the nation.

I've been re-reading Dr. Bandy Lee's book, "Profile of a Nation: Trump's Mind, America's Soul." And I keep remembering Rubin Carter telling me that the destruction of this country could only be accomplished from within, by those "who have no 'Good' within them." That sounds like the republican party of today, to me.
