What A Treasure Jacqueline Kennedy Was As First Lady
Aside from the influence garnered by her with foreign nations * her restoration efforts at the WH, the Rose Garden, even the saving of Grand Central Station...I learned today that it was she who brought about the White House Historical Society and started the tradition of the unveiling of the portraits.
* She was a great help in getting the Aswan dam in Egypt built. And when Nasser (?) asked what she would like as an expression of thanks she replied ...The Temple Of Dendur which is in the Metropolitan Museum.
