"If a guy named Donald J. Trump applied tomorrow to serve coffee at Starbucks at the FBI headquarters. Based on his record of mishandling documents??!! He would not get the security clearance needed for the coffee job at FBI headquarters. AND YET! People are talking about him running for president again."

I suppose it must be satisfying to be able to say, "I could do a better job!"

(10,011 posts)He tells them what the want to hear. White supremacy is okay, liberals are taking away your rights, LGBTQ are damning the country and the traditional American way of life, immigrants are stealing your jobs but also living on welfare you pay for, black people and immigrants are committing crimes that threaten your families, and on and on. He also has given the religious right their every wish. They know he is irreligious, but he gave them power that they know they will lose if Democrats hold on to majorities. They will vote for any Republican devil because thats their ticket to shoving their religion down everyone elses throat.

I'd just add " venal" into the script somewhere. I like using "venal" when talking about Republicans.
Oh, and please take no offense if your eyes are not white. It's just a term of phrase Tonto would use.

Even though I know it would be potentially harmful to our or other nations security, In a way I hope he did.

(12,586 posts)because it might hurt his feelings. So she granted him more power than any president has ever had -- including the current office holder. And the judge wasn't even asked to consider the issue of executive privilege. Who says there's not one set of laws for DJT and one for the rest of us?

(32,645 posts)The media has been very clear all along that Jared Kushner is extremely pro-Israel, even using his White House connections to get favors for Netanyahu and other Israelis. Jared would have kept an eye on where the secrets were being traded, and most likely he was the bag man for Chump anyway. So he would have had a say on whose secrets got shopped around.
I really think there should be a public Congressional "Benghazi-style" hearing with Jared Kushner on the witness stand for 11 hours. He'll tell us a lot more than Chump ever would.
Justice matters.
(6,933 posts)We know the orange grifter did not reside (still doesn't) in his shithole down in Merd-o-Largo for now two summers.
What if the Saudis or Iranians or Russians spies (able to open single-locked doors and drawers, even safes) to go there and manage to sneak in his office while nobody watched?
I mean, basic international intelligence gathering technique if you asked any Hollywood screenwriters??

He'll start wars and inflame hatreds if that gets him financial benefit.
Not sure if his toy bride gives a shit about anything anymore. Probably doped up (in multiple meanings.)
Other than having billions in assets (which may be precarious) I'm not sure how the financial world would handle Kushner trying to actually utilize his resources.
Hoping that the US and other nations can put a tight seal on what he can access until he explains what were the reasons for his acquisition..

(32,645 posts)Did the Repuke Party do its diligence in vetting their candidate? Of course not, they never do. For Chump the US media rolled over and let him walk all over them. Once he was in, everyone shut up and kept their heads down. Nobody said a word as he told lies and committed crimes.
People keep making references to Nazi Germany and how Hitler came to power. To me, the way Chump took over the GOP and still has his grip on it even now, that's the perfect analogy to Hitler. Some of the other stuff isn't analogous, but the way the GOP just laid down for him is perfectly relevant.
45 is sloppier, not nearly as disciplined and doesn't care to try to have the pretense of appealing to public opinion. But, this is an increasingly unserious country and in that context the parallels track very similarly.

Sabotage is their game. The *only* reason to vote with them is to accomplish that destruction.
