From Eisenhower to Biden, queen met every US president but 1

WASHINGTON (AP) — Horseback riding with Ronald Reagan. Yachting with Bill Clinton. Sipping tea with Joe Biden.

Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday at age 96, had met every American president since Dwight Eisenhower, with the exception of Lyndon Johnson, who did not visit Britain during his presidency. Biden was the 13th and final U.S. president to meet the woman whose reign spanned seven decades.

Every living former U.S. president — Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump — joined Biden in mourning her passing and sending condolences to her family.

Biden and first lady Jill Biden said the queen’s “legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world.”

He used to shoot deer from the back seat of his convertible in TX as well.

Bobby Kennedy had to endure that and told a good story of it.

Good ‘ol Landslide Lyndon.

When I met him, even I had to go to the White House. He wouldn't come see me at my home, just to give you an idea how little time he had for us common folk.......

He did manage to send me a letter though, inviting me to visit my local draft board and induction center where his picture was prominently displayed

I not only had to register for the draft (Nixon was in office by then), but I really did meet LBJ at the White House when I was 13. He didn't have a lot of time for me, needless to say. His wife was charming, though, and chatted with me for something like ten minutes.

My dad was a member of the Washington, DC print press and LBJ had a thing at the White House for a few members of the press and their families some Friday afternoon in 1965. While still in school that morning, I got a notice from my dad to be at the White House at such and such a time, at such and such a gate. Man, was it easy in those days! What's your name? Oh, right, here you are, OK come on in. These days, you have to go through something like two separate ID checks and three different security checks, and even that was years ago. I haven't even set foot in the place since Obama was in office.

Her TV station was a big benefactor of the public radio station there. Went to the ranch too. Nice people.
I mentioned to Lucy that I had been drafted in 65, but that was quickly talked past. 😆
Hope all continues to be well with you

Strike season has started early this year. I’ve been stuck for hours/days trying to get in or out of both Belgium and Holland due to train strikes. I HATE driving over here, so I always take public transportation, which means you’re at the mercy of events like that.
