??? - Mitt Romney Urged Biden to Run for President

On the night of the 2018 midterm elections, as a wave of anti-Trump sentiment swept Democrats to take control of the House, Mitt Romney urged Joe Biden to run for president, according to a new book, The Guardian reports.

Said Romney: “You have to run.”

“Romney’s exhortation to a man then seen as a likely challenger to Donald Trump in 2020 will probably further enrage the former president, his supporters and the Republican party they dominate.”

2. It's weird with him. His voting record is 99.9 per cent awful

And yet, he does appear, on occasion, to get the lay of the land. He once told a Democratic Senator running for re-election that he was fortunate to be locked in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. I promise you, the microphones and cameras were NOT on for THAT one!

4. People say things, I tend to watch what they do. The voting really screws people. He isn't there

to help his constituents. He is there to line his own pockets.

6. His pockets are already pretty lavishly lined, and he is 70.

When you already have more money than you'll ever spend during the rest of your life (and I don't see a Romneyrocket to Mars in his future), at some point you think about your legacy. Not everyone does, but I think he is getting an inkling that he might. Not everyone with money is interested in going out as a mere footnote and leaving the heirs to have fun on their deceased ancestor's nickel.

Cheney is the same way. Agrees with Trump on 90% of issues, but isn't an insurrectionist and knows that Biden won.

14. Not particularly weird. Every conservative success has surfed in on a cushion of foam...

...but Trump showcased the foam, instead of the "establishment" tactic of using it but pretending it wasn't there and that the success was was due to wide support for their "principles".

Remember, Trump made a bargain with them: Rubber-stamping their pet policies (esp. judges) in exchange for loyalty.

It's not (most) of Trump's positions that he has a problem with, it's Trump himself. Mitt doesn't support insurrections, and he knows that Biden won. Doesn't mean he's gonna be on our side on abortion, guns control, or taxes.

13. Indeed. He didn't scream, whine or pout when Obama won re-election.

He knew it was going to happen anyway. It's just not in his DNA to try to mount a fraudulent protest against reality.

15. Well, not screaming, but I'd call grousing about "people who just want stuff" fairly pouty.

3. Romney was among the millions of people who (rightly) understood that Joe Biden

was "custom made" to defeat Donald Trump in an election decided by the prevailing electoral college system in the United States.

Trump was (and is) a threat to our democracy. Romney, whatever his other flaws (which are many), at least has moral clarity on that front.

Well stated - he saw Biden as the man that could get rid of IQ45 and still allow 'Mittens' to have a life within his own party.
I'm also gonna' give creds to 'Mittens' for having the integrity to - no matter how 'weakly' - step up and do the right thing.

The 'conflicts' going through his own brain must be overwhelming - 'my country' - 'my party' - 'my wealth' - 'my integrity' -------

Hey - at least he seems to be capable of having such actual thoughts........
