I don't think that one factor is a deal breaker and you obviously don't either - at least for some.

There are some issues like abortion where he will say he is prochoice becsuse he has no chance of winning without being prochoice.

(82,849 posts)19th Century English political figures. Whichever, he had initially taken one position on an issue then changed his mind and supported the opposite positions. Another member of Parliament, usually against Disraeli-or-Gladstone, was twitting him about his change of heart on the issue. Disraeli-or-Gladstone responded, "When I find myself in error, I correct it like any intelligent person would. Tell me, what is it you do in that circumstance?"
