(42,334 posts)There is no way in hell TFG would travel on AF 1 with the delegation. So, invite him and let him turn it down.

(42,334 posts)He'd never go, being as he is not the guy in charge, no matter what he says.
That said, Tapper is being slammed on Twitter for even suggesting it. I thought a few of the panelists suggested it.

"You could've nailed her, right?" Stern asked Trump. Trump replied, "I think I could've."
Then in 2000, Trump once again reminded the world that he had wanted to have sex with Diana, saying, "she was crazy, but those are minor details."

(6,034 posts)... Obama, Bush, Clinton, Carter (if his health allows). Bush, Clinton, and Carter went to Nelson Mandela's funeral if memory serves. I am guessing the Secretary of State will also go.

(5,104 posts)with an invitation extended to President Carter as well (who I expect would not attend due to his health and age). And of course, the wife's (First Ladies) of those presidents; Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton.
The inclusion of Bush will (correctly) be read as a snub of TFG (who should certainly be excluded).
ETA: And President Joe Biden and Dr Jill Biden should (and will) attend.

(11 posts)I would pleasantly take those gop sens/reps who visited Putin on the US 4th of July during tfg admin. Then not take them to the event; monitor all foreign interactions for each, and see how deep those traitors are involved in destabilizing democracy in the USA and elsewhere.

A bit surprising that Tsar Nicholas II wasn't there, as he was a nephew by marriage to King Edward and a first cousin to King George V.

(115,740 posts)and most of them are related to each other as direct descendants of George II. There's King Philippe of Belgium, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, King Harald V of Norway, King Felipe VI of Spain, King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden, Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, and Prince Albert II of Monaco. Since they're cousins of the Windsors I imagine they will all be there. Some will wear medals and sashes, too.

Standing, from left to right: Haakon VII of Norway, Ferdinand of Bulgaria, Manuel II of Portugal, Wilhelm II of Germany, George I of Greece and Albert I of Belgium. Seated, from left to right: Alfonso XIII of Spain, George V of the United Kingdom and Frederick VIII of Denmark.

(115,740 posts)The Greek royal family is a branch of the Danish royal family, itself a branch of the House of Glücksburg, that reigned in Greece from 1863 to 1924 and again from 1935 to 1973. Its first monarch was George I, the second son of King Christian IX of Denmark. He was descended from Queen Victoria and a bunch of Germans on his mother's side. All these people are related to each other, which might explain a few things.

(1,301 posts)My save one was, of course referring to Trump.
I was just commenting that he was a Republican.
I remember thinking Bush was the worst president in history, but after Trump, he almost seems like a saint. With all his faults, at least he didnt try to totally upend our democracy.

(115,740 posts)But the Queen never allowed her personal feelings, which were seldom known, to affect her observance of custom and protocol. Still, I doubt TFG will be there, if for no other reason that he won't be the center of attention.
