Will Abbott be targeting sending migrants to smaller communities versus NYC, Chicago & D.C.? Is that his plan?

Its not just New York City.
Tennessee officials also have had to scramble to accommodate busloads of migrants getting dropped off without notice in Chattanooga, they told The Post Tuesday.
In a 48-hour period over the weekend, Chattanooga helped 51 immigrants that were aboard buses shipped to the Big Apple by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

(51,197 posts)He's trafficking these migrants. They've done interviews that they were either tricked or threatened. These are people here legally because they are waiting hearings on asylum.
Unintended consequence: Abbott is also making it more likely these migrants will receive asylum as their cases will be heard in jurisdictions more likely to grant asylum status.

(15,948 posts)I dont get why this is bad. They ask them if theyd like to go to New York or other areas. How can Texas manage the numbers on their own? Somebody please enlighten me as to why this is awful. Thank you.

(51,197 posts)Maybe it works out to be helpful for some migrants who want to get out of TX, but what about those who don't know or want to be bused? I'm unwilling to take their word for it that all these people are volunteering to be political pawns. It's also taxing the resources of the cities where he's just dumping these people. States that did not get extra federal funds for border operations.
What proof is there that TX can't handle processing these asylum seekers? This is a political stunt costing TX millions of dollars.

(8,283 posts)100% agreed.
Texas has a handful of big cities that are as equally capable of accommodating many of the migrants, if they wish to remain in Texas. All of Texas isn't like Greg Abbott. Many organizations in Texas would welcome them just as Chicago or NYC would.
Also, there have been articles published of migrants saying they were told the buses would take where they wanted to go only to have them dropped off in NYC when they wanted to go somewhere else.

Smaller cities may find their resources stretched and not be happy a Republican governor is pulling this stunt.

Abbott is a smuggler of undocumented.
Trump is a documented smuggler of documents

(32,088 posts)Many of Chicago's suburbs tend to be run by more conservative people. Judging by the statement from EGV's mayor, they're no exception. He's blaming this mess on state and local officials, rather than on the despicable motherfucker who is sending these poor people in the first place. I hope this whole thing winds up blowing up in Abbott's ugly-ass face.
