Just heard about Evan McMullin!!!

This is what I've been waiting for. Former Republican. Switched to Independant when Trump won. Utah Democrats are not running a candidate. Instead they're backing him. I was hoping Utah would step up to the bat!!

Do we have a DU donation possibility for him?

I think there is a large percentage of voters who would never vote for anyone with a D beside their name. It would be like denying their religion

There is not a lot of polling and I do not know the polling companies well.

FiveThirtyEight Lee +8.2
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/senate/2022/utah/

Dan Jones polling shows he closed the gap from -24% to -5% between March and July.
That seems encouraging.

RealClear has Lee +5.3 but only one pollster
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/senate/ut/utah_senate_lee_vs_mcmullin-7735.html

Since Jan 2020, Dem registration +22% but GOP are +24%, Independents down about 10%
The loss of independents may reflect the polarization around the country.
Republicans outnumber Dems about 3.5:1 - very red state.

He's in tough but it is not impossible or out of reach. Things really have to go his way over the next 58 days.

I don't know much about Utah politics - it has always been so red.

other day. Seems dubious but the fact he's close is a good sign. Would love to see some gop cash be forced to Utah of all places. They would also become a ruby red state with at the very least 2 senators of some conscience.
