WV State Sen. Eric Tarr (R) explains his "no" vote on the state's near-total abortion ban, citing rape and incest exceptions as too lenient:

“If you got a burning building and you can save almost all the children but not all of them, would you do it? I’d burn the building.”

5. A self-induced moral panic over a made-up moral superstition.

Like burning witches. It lets him feel self-righteously triumphant without actually helping anyone while subjugating women. If some women die then that just proves his moral righteousness, and it’s a price he’s willing to pay. For the Christian Right patriarchy it’s win-win-win.

“I’d burn the building” is the perfect expression of their total nihilism. They don’t care about children, they just want to watch the world burn.
