General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsEarlier this evening, Yevgeny Vindman was on MSNBC (Nicolle Wallace's show???).
He said he thought the Ukrainians were, at this moment in time, the most highly trained, skilled army in Europe, at least. He said they could win this war faster if they have the very latest, very best arms their allies (the US, for sure) could provide them. They have proven to be skilled strategists and steadfastly determine to fight gallantly for their country. He said he thought they could capture back all stolen territory by years' end if they had all they needed.
I am no military analyst, but that sure seems a reasonable conclusion.
So what do people think? Should we invest more in the Ukrainian army, make this a real proxy war, and defeat soundly and demonstrably, one cowardly but brutal dictator?
I think we should.
And then stop Putin's westward expansion by allowing Ukraine to join NATO. We could also lobby for them to join the EU.
They have EARNED it!!

And if he wins in Ukraine will invade other parts of Europe.

There is no comparison between the motivation of soldiers who are invading and those fighting to save their homes.

(118 posts)I would like to see the Russians weakened so much that Assad has no support from them, that Orban and others realize Putin can do nothing for them, that the Russian oligarchs decide they need to play nice in international business, and the Russian troll farms and fake news operations can't get fat Kremlin bank rolls to do their mischief around the world.
