(16,093 posts)The Hispanic community in Florida has large pockets of racists and bigots...they could form their own Klan group.

(11,744 posts)"Hispanics" are not a single group. Cubans and Puerto Ricans are the largest groups in Florida. Puerto Ricans are US Citizens, and while they tend to be more liberal as a group, Immigration is not a major issue in that community. Cubans, until recently also had a favored status on immigration and they tend to be more conservative.
There are Latino groups, even Mexicans (who have traditionally been the targeted group on immigration) and Central American groups (Hondurans, Salvadorian, Guatemalan, and Nicaraguan) that once established in the US, also tend to look down on later generations of immigrants from their own region.
If they have Conservative leanings at this point, then the mistreatment of people who may "look" like them, but are not them, would likely not matter much.

(25,555 posts)Do white people hate white people?
Yes
Is it racist for conservative whites to hate liberal whites and vice a versa?
Are white people who hate Donald Trump hating "their own"?

(18,672 posts)12 million spent for this stunt that could have helped so many people struggling in his state.

(11,744 posts)They certainly do not want the government to help poor people, minorities, and immigrants. This is what the Conservative movement is now. The direct and cruel defender of the status quo. The defender or White Power. Remember Trump was separating children from their parents FOR THE PURPOSE of harming them as some sort of sick deterrent of immigration. The choice is, likely die in your own country or have your kids taken from you here. People still made the choice for life for their children, even if they were separated.

(18,672 posts)They've become evil IMO. Their cruelty is so bad right now it makes me grieve. Transporting human beings who just want asylum around like cattle to impress the racist and hateful.
I went to the grocery store yesterday and the cashier I've spoken with many times before starts in out of the blue how Democrats have messed up everything because they have us involved in all these wars (what wars???) and that's why grocery prices are up. I told him I was a Democrat but he kept on going with his hateful rant that I did not even ask for. I finally told him I'd prefer not to discuss politics at the checkout and left, disgusted. They are getting crazier and crazier. It scared me because I live in a blue state, but this guy who used to be pleasant for the couple years I've shopped there has lost his mind.

(9,998 posts)Like Vail, or Aspen. And they were at peak occupancy 2 weeks ago! The students have returned to Boston en masse.
The Mass. governor is a good man - a Republican (Charlie Baker) primaried out of office by the Trumpists! The new Mayor in Boston is good as well, and an activist for working people.
IMHO, this is all about spite and jealousy by an absolutely infantile DeSantis, "making points" with all the mean, miserable cretins that make up his "base".

Let's all keep an eye on him!

(2,429 posts)It is certainly transportation of a person through the use of fraud and coercion. Not sure about the labor services - unless it's as unpaid props for a DeSantis political ad.
