And I do not have a lot of confidence in our Justice system. There are Justices on the Court that are more loyal to the Trump cult than to the Constitution. It is a possibility they would vote with the Judge in Florida, putting our national security at risk and disregarding our Constitution.
I am not certain they would follow the rule of law and vote against the criminal mobster that stole our national secrets and attempted to overthrow our government. The Justice system has been corrupted. We just do not know how much?

(111,106 posts)Joe Biden should declare that only he has "executive privilege" and take control of the classified documents, and let the Judges fight it out amongst themselves what to do about it. The law and the Constitution would be on his side, in my opinion.

(14,816 posts)They have their own theories on unitary power and the powers of the potus.
I'm not sure they fit with permanent presidential powers or the right of private citizens to possess classified documents. And the thought tht a fpotus gets judicial preferance to the exclusion of all three branches of gov't probably won't sit well either.
Cannon is just stalling. I think she fully expects to get over ruled on appeal; in 2 years..

(23,138 posts)Sadly, I think that Gorsuch, Kavarape and Handmaiden will assist in the destruction of democracy for their desired christofascist driven society while roberts dithers on the side.

And each of these back-and-forths makes it less likely that anything will happen to him.

(16,118 posts)start ruling that there are one set of laws for Republicans and another for Democrats, 6/3, of course.
Because for all his whining, Roberts really doesn't care about the rulings, as long as the money keeps rolling in for 'speaking engagements'. They are corrupt.

(10,912 posts)After the Roe debacle, they've resorted to whining about trust in the court. They wouldn't whine if they didn't think it was true.
This case could be the perfect chance for them to regain a modicum of that trust. Or not.
I expect at least Roberts and Gorsuch to side with the DOJ.

(5,104 posts)That is too narrow a "win" for the rule of law, but I think TFG will lose in the SC.

(14,047 posts)They should really start to worry about an expanded court. Ruling for Trump will make the case much stronger.

(8,807 posts)The USSC at present is flawed because of who is on the court and shenanigans by a rogue GOP to stack the USSC in their less than egalitarian style.
Looks to me that the answer to many problems is to get 4 or 5 of the current Justices off the court for cause. Stomp them because if they are not stomped now this mess will never end.
