1) does he even have the necessary clearance to view them all? If not, how long will it take to do so, and will.it trigger an extension to the deadline?
2) will he (and any helpers he has) be required to wear gloves while handling the records, to preserve forensic evidence?
3) he's 78. If he should die, how much more time to start over?
It is pretty fucking clear to me what is happening: delay until after mid-terms to prevent Dems from keeping the House; if the Rs take the House, they'll abuse that power and throw obstacles galore--"the likes of which we've never seen before"--to thwart this (and other) investigation. Hard to emphasize how much I dispise what I see happening.

(16,087 posts)Cannon is owned by the the Federalist Society, not Trump...he just put her in the chair and had the assistance of 12 Democratic Senators!

(15,650 posts)This case will be appealed all the way to SCOTUS.
BTW, how would a Republican congress interfere with the DOJ investigating and prosecuting Trumps crimes? They could grandstand all they want, but they have no power to stop the DaoJ.
JohnSJ
(92,325 posts)because the Senate lacks the votes to convict, and for draconian legislation they try to push through, the President has the power to veto.
It is still critical that we do everything to maintain the majority especially in the Senate, so judges can be appointed that would undo the damage that has been done to our country

(7,331 posts)DOJ can't even handle the workload of finding and prosecuting all of the J6 miscreants!

(15,650 posts)How exactly would a GOP congress go about gumming up the works at DOJ?
Hint: they cant .

(11,636 posts)The President of the United States is 79 and doing a fine job by most accounts around here. You maybe should reconsider your 3rd point.

(7,331 posts)He's approaching the average American lifespan.
Of course, wealth isn't figured into the equation, so he probably will continue to exceed it.
I didn't check the ages for the other 2 proposed candidates.

(11,636 posts)Your concern for the potential imminent mortality of this person whose health you know nothing about is not a "fact" its simply ageist nonsense which detracts from your argument.

(3,417 posts)but Cannon's order allows Trump's counsel to witness the vetting.
So Rudy or Sydney Powell (who do not have the proper clearances) will attempt to view the classified documents. The DOJ will object. Further delays ahead.
Let's hope the whole ruling is overturned on appeal. SCOTUS (even with it's partisans) has already shown their skepticism about TFG's Executive Privilege claims.

It's in the Judge's order.

Trumps goal and intent is to drag this out as long as possible and he seems to have willing accomplices.
