Ryan: "First prayer I say every morning is the serenity prayer."

Hmm.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and wisdom, to know the difference."

The things Ryan wants to change, which he apparently thinks he can (if the voters allow him to)

1. The progressive Federal income tax
2. Social security
3. Medicare
4. Medicaid
5. slash funding for SNAP, LIHEAP, SCHIP, TANF, Unemployment compensation, EITC, etc. Any program that helps those in need.

I hope the voters give him a big "hell no" to those changes, and he accepts that.

I also found this to be quite absurd. Or ridiculously self indulgent.

Ryan "... and also it's the prayers that are offered to me from perfect strangers that I know are out there praying, for Mitt and myself, and our families, and our families are doing great." http://news.yahoo.com/paul-ryan-says-obama-compromise-judeo-christian-western-045635969--abc-news-politics.html

Well lah, dee, dah. Their families are doing great. Apparently "the Lord helps those who help themselves."

It certainly must be a great comfort to those who are living in poverty, those who have no health care, those who don't have jobs, to know that Mitt's family (income $21,000,000) and Ryan's family (income $323,000) are doing great.

Here's another guy that was doing great

"There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day."

He is sometimes called Dives http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazarus_and_Dives In the parable, Jesus says that Dives died and went to hell, perhaps because he ignored the beggar Lazarus at his gate. "For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat ..."

"Our families are doing great"

Sheesh, maybe those people could consider praying for families that actually need some help.

We all should be praying that the country is spared the horrors of a Romney/Ryan administration.

and not some other, more upbeat, prayer such as "this is a day the lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it."

You say the serenity prayer when you're bummed out...

Always thought the "Serenity Prayer" was a very limited request. Notice it doesn't ask that he should change the things that should be changed but to accept that some things couldn't be changed. And that what should be changed would be known.

I don't, for one minute, believe that most of these psychopathic Republicans give one whit about religion.

They detest the poor and want them to suffer. They lack any sort of empathy and compassion. Their policies would inflict untold misery to the most vulnerable in our world--children with disabilities, senior citizens who have limited income, and the poor, hungry and homeless.

These Republicans are happy to go to war--and kill hundreds of thousands of innocents, all for oil and world domination. Gee, sounds like Jesus to me!

They can take their fake, God-based bullshit and shove it. They know nothing about being decent people, or doing the right thing. These Republicans, who use religion--only do so to cull votes. It's schtick for them--theater that snags the Church-going demographic.

How in the hell does tax breaks for millionaires and bank deregulation translate into God's work???

When will religious people wake up and realize that these scurrilous Republicans don't care about them or share their religious values?

I will get thru each day, by things I do and say! I won't say if he prays or not, but I feel that he says it, for prosperity and to pull more Catholic his way. It is appalling to me that they use religion to make their point. My point is he wants to take from the middle class and give to the rich! One of the big sins of the church is to be greedy and a liar to get ahead. Everyday, I say a pray for those who are less fortunate and for this country to come together as one amongst a lot of other things.
