When Trump and the GOP lose the band-wagon fans

Something that iI think is going to rapidly happen over the next few weeks.

There is a substantial portion of people in our society who rapidly switch loyalties purely on the desire to be attached to the winning team. We see it in sports and it actually happens in politics as well. They are "loyal" fans, until their team starts losing, then they switch or just stay home.

What percentage of voters are like this? I suspect a significant number of low-information voters that see politics as just another kind of tribal sport are a significant part of the GOP base. My unscientific guess: maybe 10-20%.

Even if it's 5% of Republicans and 5% of Independents that's a HUGE number. NoMoreRepugs Sep 2022 #1
