when it comes to Trump.
For years, it feels like the keys to his downfall have always been just over the horizon, but all the signs over the past month, the past weeks, everything
it just seems like finally he might not be able to avoid facing justice. For at least some of his crimes, even if not all of them.
But it feels closer now. It really does.

(5,914 posts)But remember it only takes one MAGAt on the jury to vote not guilty, no matter what the evidence may show to fuck the whole process up.

(10,252 posts)Certainly up to his ankles, but not yet up to his knees. No matter which way he turns to step, it's all do-do stretching out to the horizon and beyond the beyond. I suspect that now Ms Leticia has turned over a criminal referral to the DOJ, that the IRS has some busy bees buzzing over his past filings too.
It wouldn't surprise me if his kids commit him to a mental ward as incompetent to stand trial. Seems that would be his only out from prosecution. Of course that won't get THEM off the hook.

(509 posts)If I were to have been found to have mis-appropriated and illegally stored and shared one single page of the hundreds of pages of documents, I would have been, IMMEDIATELY, arrested, placed in handcuffs, leg irons, body shackles, holding cells, held incommunicado in solitary confinement and questioned for days at end to discern each and every movement and contact I made during the time that that single page was in my possession. Then, I would be immediately placed in solitary confinement in a Federal dungeon for many, many years.
Until I see any evidence of such a reaction by the officials in charge of protecting our National Security, I will continue to believe that the fix is in, and he will skate with trivial charges at best.

until very recently when I found out what he did with the $250 million
he raised for election integrity
thats whats paying for his lawyers and his big rallies - he stole
the money, almost none of it went to election integrity
then I started to review the other things I gave him a pass on and
realized hes been doing us dirty for quite some time now

(11,337 posts)really kind of put the 'stink' on things for a lot of people in government, current and ex-military, etc. (old style 'my country ..' patriots, et.al.)
On the other hand - I would have sworn those same people would have been completely put off with playing palzie-walzie with Putin and Kim. I run into a lot of folks that readily admit they think Trump talks a lot of sh*t - but were ready to give a pass, because of 'the things he does.' Screwing around with national security and secrets - that's different. And I'm not sure if giving the middle finger to 'the establishment' is going to work for him this time. Guess we'll find out.
