Gavin Newsom (D) warned members of his party Saturday that the GOP is “winning right now” as that party controls the national conversation – arguing that Democrats’ failure to offer a “compelling alternative narrative” has put the “entire rights agenda” of the last half-century at risk, CNN reports.

Said Newsom: “These guys are ruthless on the other side… They dominate the most important thing in American politics today and that’s the narrative – facts become secondary to narrative. They dominate with illusion. And we are getting crushed. We are on the defense over and over again.”

Its like Democrats got on a hampster wheel when Obama got elected, if not sooner, and have been running to catch up to the narrative ever since.

The GOP sets the narrative. Some version of "Democrats are trying to destroy the America you love"

Democrats at first just ignore it, thinking no one will believe it.

Months later and opinion has shifted to where a disturbing percent of voters agree with Republicans on that groomed narrative.

Democrats finally decide to push back, politely though, so as not to be seen as stooping to their level. Just the facts maam.

The GOP moves on to another narrative even more sinister sounding about Democrats evil plans

So just as Democrats are finally pressured by so much MSM obsession on the GOP's talking points, and are forced into at least trying to address the first baseless attack, the GOP has already moved on to the next attack. Doesn't matter if its a shameless lie or not. Its the next narrative fed on a plate to the MSM to knaw on.

This has kept Democrats on a perpetual defensive.
And when the courts, FBI, etc help to expose the ugly dirt under the carpet of the GOP, we have to take advantage of that, and pounce deeper. Because we know that the MSM, if they see any kind of problems for one side which may hurt their chances, they will instead try and amp up the sympathy card, or the but but but Hillary's emails! angle. We can't leave it to the MSM or law enforcement.

Democrats try to convince people about ideas but emotions will always win out over logic.
