In honor of the life of William Rivers Pitt, I am posting these photos tonight.
We were on our way to Iceland. We were able to meet with these great DU'ers in our hotel.
Cross gently, dear Will.

We must do a fundraiser for their little family. Hope Truthout will endure.

(111,098 posts)Will was such a great and passionate writer. He wore his heart on his sleeve and that created some enemies for him.

(5,442 posts)I've been hoping to find out it isn't true. I met Will, whose writing I so greatly admired, when he came to Seattle to join the Kucinich presidential campaign. We were all so excited to have him on the team. But there was such disarray in the organization, he didn't stay long. My heart is heavy at the loss of his voice. Deepest condolences to his family.

I don't remember Marian's DU name.

William Rivers Pitt was an amazing writer and one of the great fighters of the status quo. He will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and admirers.

He struck me back then as a 21st century Thomas Paine.

(2,739 posts)I searched for his image to see which person in the photo was Will. I found a link to a heartbreaking and inspiring op-ed he wrote about "The Astonishing Privilege of Fatherhood."
I know his daughter must be broken-hearted with the loss. But also that Will's fatherhood must have created scads of precious memories. Hopefully his memory will be a blessing and comfort to her.

I suspect his daughter is around nine years old now. I don't know if they had other children.

(149,627 posts)I remember Will talking about that choice. He said since he was an older dad, and with the condition his wife has, that they would not be having any more kids.
Turned out to be prescient.

(2,574 posts)Can't believe that Will has passed. With my morning coffee I read Truthout every day, mostly to read Will's column.
A nostalgic blast from the past, a thread in which Will posted "THIS IS THE BEST THREAD EVER!"
