Kellyanne Conway Smoked For 'Gaslighting' Everyone With Brazen Marijuana Lie

The former Trump adviser attacked John Fetterman for flying a marijuana flag.

Former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway is pushing alternative facts again.

During an appearance on Fox News on Monday, the notoriously dishonest Donald Trump ally attacked Pennsylvania Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman for his outspoken support of cannabis legalization.

-snip-

“He put the marijuana flag up. He thought that was funny. He’s trolling his opponent,” Conway added. “Here’s what’s not funny: that there has been a doubling of overdose deaths in Pennsylvania.”

There has not been a doubling of marijuana overdose deaths in Pennsylvania.

According to the Pennsylvania Office of Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention, there was a 3% increase in drug overdose fatalities from 2020 to 2021, the large majority of which involved fentanyl or opioids. No marijuana overdose deaths were reported by the office.

There could be an honest and ferocious debate over marijuana's role as a "gateway drug," but the framing of the Huffington Post article is 100% dishonest.

Conway NEVER claimed increased deaths from marijuana overdoses, right?

ie a little nauseous for a 10-15 minutes, but you have to either smoke a HUGE amount, or crossfade some if you also drink alcohol. If you eat way too many edibles (which many folks new to cannabis can do), you can get bad gastrointestinal issues for 12 hours or so. This is how they got enough votes to steal the 2004 election - scared suburbanites with vague threats of "storms" and terrorist attacks. This election it's scary immigrants bringing drugs disguised as Halloween candy.

The Republicans are losing the suburban demographic because of the abortion decisions and laws. The only way to get them back is to spread fear.

Fight back. There is no such thing as "rainbow fentanyl" snuck into trick or treaters bags. Why would drug dealers kill little kids? What kind of business model is that?

The Feds have NO business keeping it classified as a Schedule 1 Narcotic.

It isn't a narcotic.

It is not addictive.

It DOES have medical uses.

Therefore it is NOT a Schedule 1 substance.

The ONLY reasons these right-wing idiots keep it illegal is to be able to bust and incarcerate people of color to fill beds in the private for-profit prisons. Seriously. These private prison companies move in, build prisons and 'bring in jobs' with agreements with local law enforcement to keep the beds full at or above 80% capacity.

That is the REAL truth about why cannabis is illegal. Wall Street, the golden idol of shareholder profits, and institutional racism.

The ancient Israelites used cannabis in their religious rituals, archaeologists were stunned to learn by analyzing charred residues on a 2,700-year-old altar unearthed in a desert shrine.

The weed traces were found on one of the altars that once stood in the temple at Tel Arad, in Israel’s Negev desert. The cannabinoid substance was likely burned to deliberately get worshippers high on the drug’s psychoactive compounds, researchers have concluded.][link:https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2020-05-31/ty-article/.premium/ancient-israelites-used-cannabis-as-temple-offering-study-finds/0000017f-ed9d-d4a6-af7f-ffdf8fb90000|

Two limestone monoliths, interpreted as altars, were found in the Judahite shrine at Tel Arad. Unidentified dark material preserved on their upper surfaces was submitted for organic residue analysis at two unrelated laboratories that used similar established extraction methods. On the smaller altar, residues of cannabinoids such as Δ9-teterahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabinol (CBN) were detected, along with an assortment of terpenes and terpenoids, suggesting that cannabis inflorescences had been burnt on it.

Organic residues attributed to animal dung were also found, suggesting that the cannabis resin had been mixed with dung to enable mild heating. The larger altar contained an assemblage of indicative triterpenes such as boswellic acid and norursatriene, which derives from frankincense.

The additional presence of animal fat―in related compounds such as testosterone, androstene and cholesterol―suggests that resin was mixed with it to facilitate evaporation. These well-preserved residues shed new light on the use of 8th century Arad altars and on incense offerings in Judah during the Iron Age.[link:https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/03344355.2020.1732046|

Kellyanne Conway did NOT say that "marijuana overdoses" doubled.

What she said was that overdose deaths have doubled, which (in her very next sentence) she linked to fentanyl--NOT MARIJUANA.

Now, one may argue with the proposition that marijuana is (or is not) a "gateway drug," but the thread is based on a red-herring.

It is disturbing that so many seem to swallow everything they read with complete credulity.
