The harsh realities of life.

Ran into a Trump voter today who I have known for a while and I like him as a person. I told him to be prepared for what is coming. Trump and his band of traitors are going to be indicted. He of course defended Trump. He said Trump beats everyone.

I said fine, I am just telling you to be prepared for the unexpected, what you think is going to happen is not going to happen. Then he told me this.

My wife and I have been married for 30 years. She just left me for another man. I never saw that coming. I said sorry about your wife and walked away.

a Trump supporter. Trump's organized crime. It's like saying "I love Al Capone". They're both criminals with blood on their hands. People have misused the term "politics" since he was elected. The Republican party died on Jan 6 and what remains is an international criminal enterprise and nothing else.
So yeah, fuck this guy, his right hand, and the empty box of kleenex. No sympathy!

I am WAY speculating here based on the amount of information, but it sounds like your friend, much like many Conservatives, tends to think in absolutes and blind himself to those "realities" of life.

I am not saying it isn't possible for the scenario you relayed to happen, but after 30 years of marriage, you don't see any warning signs that your relationship is faltering?

Like I said, speculation, but it seems like he put on the blinders in his personal life just like he put the blinders on to the incredible corruption and easily identifiable personality flaws of Trump.

Again, I am not saying that it is impossible... I have had friendships with many a Conservative during my life. For me, anyone who actively supports Trump either, like your friend, is totally blinded to those "realities" or if not, would be incompatible with the kind of qualities I find "likeable" as a person.
