Any thoughts as to what the disruption of the Nordstream pipelines will do in the coming months?

Now that coverage is indicating that the two gas pipelines to Europe have been physically blown, the possibility of a "good" winter in Western Europe is fading quickly. I was just curious what folks thought the future months might look like, as a result.

I think Europe should know how Putin works. Many of Russian's so called allies are jumping ship and many European countries are working together and bypassing Russia altogether obtaining what is needed.

It won't be easy tho.

NS 1 has been down for "maintenance" and 2 had not even been used yet.

Long term it will be an issue. It appears extensive repairs will be needed when/if Russia is willing to resume sending gas to Europe.

One for heavy maintenance and the other 'cause Putin is an asshole. So, Europe was already preparing contingencies for a very rough winter and with a lot of industry at risk.

I'm sure the damaged pipelines could be repaired before deep winter but that doesn't mean Putin the Thug would provide any gas.

I'm just hoping a lot of poor and elderly folks don't have to suffer from lack of heat and gas for cooking. Their electric grid will be under tremendous stress assuming they get enough gas to run their gas turbine-generators.

Germany plans to keep 2 nuclear power plants in operation

Germany will keep two of its remaining three nuclear plants on standby until at least April 2023, as the country also secures other alternative energy supplies to make it through winter.

Humanity indeed has a massive problem of placing far too much power in the hands of the few rather than a human community.

He wants Europe to stop funding Ukraine and force Zelensky to surrender.

Yes this planet allows a group of psychopaths to call all the shots.

The psychopaths know that people don't want the massive cost of war necessary to get rid of them.
