Sometimes things don't hit me until long after the event...re: Jan 6th insurrection attempt

Has anyone wondered WHY there were no extreme measures installed in the Capital building for just such an occurance OR
did no one ever imagine such an event would happen.
It seems to my little pea brain that there should be sleeping gas dispensers installed in these important buildings. If not a gas, then extremely loud noises that would be very difficult for a human to handle.
There has to be someway to deal with this kind of attack, right? One that doesn't require the killing of people?

If there had been a meaningful armed resistance in place to mow down the insurrectionists at the front steps at the Capitol building, it would have been over pretty quickly. If we had been attacked by another country, that's exactly what would have happened and in my opinion, it should have happened this time too. There's so much we still don't know about the failures of security that day. I hate violence but armed insurrectionists bent on killing innocent people in the Capitol can't be dealt with any other way. Sorry. Not sorry.

When that traitor got shot after ignoring repeated warnings from an armed officer, that angry mob, totally determined to get in those chambers, stopped their aggressive actions. Almost instantly.
I can imagine the thought process being "They're actually shooting at us. Time to bail."
There is direct evidence that suggests what you say is what would have happened.
Assuming of course, that there were a bare minimum of the thugs armed.

… part of the plan. Bloodshed would have allowed Тяцмp to declare Martial Law. The militia members in the crowd were prepared for that. Expecting it. They had an Arsenal across the river. The idiot rally goers who were along for the ride and joining in with the crowd were their cannon fodder.

made me think the same thing: why didn't we think of this? Anyone who played the original Flight Simulator from the 1980's remembers crashing the plane into the World Trade Center.
