General Discussion

I typically browse DU using Latest threads/Last replied.
Fairly often I'll see the same post submitted multiple (2-4) times, at about the same time, but in different forums or groups.
Is there a preference about which of the posts you reply to?

(21,756 posts)I do not use latest so I generally go by which one I see first. When something really big happens and we get six or seven right in a row, I tend to go with whichever is currently the largest.
If I make a post and then see it was already here, I'll usually self delete if I posted at around the same time. If I see someone repeat a post I made, I'll usually give it a rec and maybe a reply... I mean... If it was important enough for me to post, it deserves it

(13,781 posts)I'm talking about crossposts - the same post, posted (nearly) simultaneously to different forums or groups. If you're browsing via 'Latest', they all show up together.
I'll cross post on occasion. Not everyone reads every Forum/Group and also sometimes a post will have different discussions in different Forums/Groups. In cases like this, I'll respond where I feel my comments will be most relevant.

(7,302 posts)If the reply is substantive, I'd think it should go to the more specialized forum (vs LBN/GD) for future reference.

(13,781 posts)Then again, if you reply to the GD version, more people will likely see it.
Just musing.

(7,302 posts)I wish the DU software had an automatic way to cross reference such posts.
