(17,441 posts)I have a big regret.
My mother and father went to see Snow White at the movies on their first date. Probably in the late 30's? So my mother was a big Snow White fan. She had these little Snow White figurines. I put them in her urn just before the urn was buried next to my dad. She passed about 10 years ago.
She always wanted to go do Disney World, but by the time I was in a position to take her, she was not healthy enough to travel. So I never got her there.

(51,107 posts)If it makes you feel better.... It would have rained that day and the kid in front of you would have had explosive diarrhea.

(17,441 posts)I've had explosive diarrhea all week. I attribute it to my age. It has nothing to do with the fact that I eat whatever I want to.
100AM and can't sleep? Potato chips and cream cheese!

(14,174 posts)While they do spread joy and hope etc... many are simply done to make money.
The first of these kinds were most likely totally legit and honest and doing it for the right reasons. Many still are.
But there are examples of people starting channels only to hide cameras, and give a desperate person who is grateful for anything a few bucks, or flowers, etc and film their surprised delight. Then they cash in on ad revenue from all the viewers, subscribers, and likes they get for being such wonderful persons. And make way more from the video than what they had to give out to the poor schlup they used as a prop. Easy money.

(33,347 posts)However, it's reasonable to take a look at Disney with Abigail Disney:
Half of full-time workers in the United States cannot make ends meet. Thousands of them work for the Walt Disney Company. One of them reached out to the dissident heiress Abigail Disney, whose grandfather Roy Disney built what is often called the happiest place on Earth. Now shes made a documentary about how the family business exploits its workers: The American Dream and Other Fairy Tales. The film follows workers who have difficulty making ends meet despite the lofty claims of the Disney conglomerate. This is a phenomenon thats happening across this country in corporations and even around the world, says Disney, who co-directed the film with Kathleen Hughes. Employees who agreed to be filmed had a hope that if they could change Disney from within, Disney could lead the way for other corporations, notes Hughes.
