(10,901 posts)He could provide lots of aid and assistance to Floridians and get some election goodwill, or he could tow the conservative line and let everyone but his donors fend for themselves.
I suspect he will choose the latter.

50+ RW radio stations there and all 1500 of them nationally, ignored by democrats, will be selling all the excuses for desantis and the republicans and blaming the fuck ups on environmentalists, liberals, biden, the dem candidates, etc.
that's what they've doing to 30 years. there is no 'intellectual' honesty. the 300 or so blowhards, directed by american and russian think tanks and probably chinese now, are insecure lying cowards hiding behind call screeners.
like they did after katrina to get republicans elected in louisiana. maybe americans are getting smarter?
not only that but in FLORIDA 20 exlimbaugh stations that have been denying global warming for 30 years piggyback 5 florida universities------ from fakenewsradio.org ---- Florida 10!!!!, Florida St. 4 Miami 2, South Florida 2, Central Florida 2
wtf is wrong with those 87 universities? or the students, faculty, and employees who constantly get trashed by those stations.
in idaho the university of idaho is threatening staff with expulsion and prison for saying the wrong thing on abortion! and they broadcast on 3 fucking ex limbaugh stations doing anti choice for 30+ years!!! Boise St. 4, Idaho 3

(644 posts)Earlier today on another DU thread, we saw that FEMA is already there.
FEMA
@fema
#Ian Update: The vehicles & warehouses pictured are full of life-saving & life-sustaining resources. We have over 4.5M liters of water & 4M meals ready in Alabama & Florida with more en route. Thousands of staff, search & rescue & medical teams, are in the area ready to respond.
Also, the DU thread included:
José Andrés
@chefjoseandres
And @WCKitchen
is in place to join effort to help with food+water. Already 2 main WCK kitchens in Tampa and Gainesville plus food trucks+restaurant partners ready to make as many meals as necessary during the next days and weeks! People of Florida you will not face this alone!
No doubt, DeSantis will try to take credit for all of it but it is us--the US Government--that is on the ground to help.

(644 posts)I went to The Recount twitter page and left the same comment(s) there. All of the twitter remarks were along the same vein as the ones on DU.
Truly, I was so happy to see FEMA already out and prepared. I still cry every time that I think about Katrina. Vivid memories of bloated human body floating in the water, fully-loaded bus on fire with people inside, no water, no food. The Walmart distribution network stepping in to get supplies into the area since "good job, Brownie" couldn't muster the federal government into action. bla, bla, bla. My son went to help clean-up. Special gear and training for poisonous snakes and other beasts of the day and night. Bloated cow hanging in tree. The horrific smell of death and decay. . . .people and animals.

(2,357 posts)was W's tragedy. He had named as his FEMA director a totally inexperienced profane misogynist. Many of the agency's most experienced career people quit...could see catastrophe coming. And then the jerk director suddenly resigned and W replaced him with Michael Brown -- "Brownie" -- also woefully inexperienced. And the terrible, predictable catastrophe occurred.

(2,357 posts)to Floridians, yesterday. Biden appeared later and listed the same items. Sadly, FEMA has a policy of permitting state officials to take credit for all the good efforts and materiel before it's announced by the feds. Bummer, but it's sorta like a protocol courtesy. So the Rs will be very pleased with their favorite Gov's diligence -- despite that the good stuff actually was supplied by all the U.S. taxpayers.
