Fox News host says the mentally ill don't deserve rights

https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox-news-host-says-mentally-ill-dont-deserve-rights

JESSE WATTERS (CO-HOST): I found out that in 1950, we had a half a million people institutionalized. Do you know how many do we have now? 37,000. What the hell happened? It looks like in the civil rights movement, when we granted all these rights to people who didn't have rights at the time -- Blacks, women, workers, the environment got more rights, people with disabilities -- they said, "Hey, let's bring the mentally ill along too and let's give them all the rights."

There's a phrase for that and it's called the term "dying with one's rights on" which means you can be mentally ill, but you could be dying on the street. You can have all your rights but hey, you're going to be dead and naked and afraid and disease-ridden because the country is not trying to help you.

...

The pendulum swung way too far on the left and now we have to get it to a place where the compassionate response is to institutionalize people.

mental hospitals?

And then, addle-brained that he was, commenting a year later on the sudden seemingly inexplicable rise in the homeless population in the U.S.: "Well, the homeless are that way, I guess, because they choose to be."

the mentally ill without due process in O’Connor v. Donaldson. I doubt the court would overturn that decision, given their right wing libertarian bent. The answer is to provide services, but of course Republicans would rather just lock people up and forget about it.

I'd even go so far as to declare Fox News an enemy of the US. They don't represent our best interests.

Instead of educating himself, this bozo wants to own libs so bad that he got it ass backwards.

Sure looks like an idiot, as if that matters.
