(38,017 posts)Beto is doing great. Abbott is trying to take potshots but they're not hitting.

(14,732 posts)The latest stats I could find were from 2013 and at that time he had collected $8 mil. Why is this not ever discussed? Guess we have too many other problems to address.

(70,744 posts)Not to mention the other signs of his rotted heart: Not to mention that he has refused to accept readily available Federal money for kids' Medicaid. Oh, and there's that continual thwarting of voting rights. Oh, and there's that war on women's and other bodies. Oh, and there are those boondoggles of blowing state money for contractors/donors to build/not-build that border wall and on no-nothing militarizing the border.
Whatever anybody's personal calamity is, is not a gold card for sympathy forgetting everything else about the person.

(1,324 posts)I only caught about 20 minutes, but I couldnt help think of the Kennedy/Nixon debate that doomed Nixon. Kennedy calm and collected, Nixon uncomfortable and sweating. Beto was confident and self-assured, Abbott was well practiced but clearly uncomfortable and metaphorically sweating. Plus, of course, he appeared to be lying like crazy. I hope the people who needed to see this debate did so, but I doubt it.
