Was Alligator Alley a possible route of escape for SW Florida in the day before Ian hit?

I hear that once Ian's path began to change, evacuation was near impossible for SW Florida. That might have been true if there was a massive evacuation, happening at once. But, for those who lived closest to Alligator Alley, was that a possible avenue of escape in the day prior to Ian hitting, before the road flooded, if it flooded at all?

I don't live there so I have no idea what is possible. So I wouldn't comment. Srkdqltr Oct 2022 #1

In fact quite a few people found refuge at the Miccosukee casino and got rooms or parked their RVs in the parking lot.

The problem was that some people had no transportation. One 81 year old woman in Punta Gorda stayed in her closet when her ride showed up with Covid and she was afraid to get in the car. In Cuba they send buses to pick up those with no transportation and take them to shelters.
