swore I'd never go back after my mother died.
Now my granddaughter, born and raised in the Boston suburbs, is starting the next chapter of her young life, and she's a strongly liberal Democrat. She loves my Texas roots. Beto was born in El Paso; my mother was born in El Paso.
May the circle be unbroken.

Only someone who's never been to any of the real cities in Texas could say something so ignorant and hateful.

I think the meaning was that Austin is a special place, he was a Dem who graduated from UT
FYI I lived in Austin for seventeen years. I've lived in a few Texas cities and Austin had a unique feel to it back then....alas, last time I visited it felt like a mini-Dallas.

(16,456 posts)The conversation was about Austin. Not about any other other Texas city, or about Texas cities in general. Nobody badmouthed any Texas city, and there was no malice involved. The poster wax speaking about Austin, which they evidently have knowledge of. No other city came up.
As for ignorance, well, so what? Not knowing everything about everything is not a crime. That poster spoke of something they did know. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
