Exclusive: Democrat Fetterman hangs onto 6-point lead over GOP's Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania Senate race

Democrat John Fetterman is hanging on to a six percentage-point lead over Republican Mehmet Oz in the nation's most closely watched Senate race, a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll of Pennsylvania finds, stoking Democratic hopes of keeping control of the Senate in the midterms.

The Pennsylvania contest is believed to be the best shot Democrats have to pick up a Senate seat now held by a Republican. A victory in the Keystone State would mean an endangered Democratic incumbent elsewhere could lose re-election and not cost the party the 50-50 split that now gives it control.

2. That's a relief.

Oz has been bombarding Fetterman with ads stating he advocates releasing felons, including a testimonial from a Bucks Co sheriff supporting Oz. Finally I saw a Fetterman ad rebutting that idea. It doesn’t help Fetterman that Fox has put forth an all-out attack on him. I’m seeing lots of new Oz signs in yards. Let’s hope Fetterman can hold that lead.

3. In western PA, I have not seen even 1 Oz

yard sign. Overall, there aren't a lot of yard signs out, but most are for Dems. The R ones are for Mastriano, no exta ones for Oz or even the local R congressional candidate.

Interestingly, the Bucks Co sheriff in that ad nearly lost his home and everything else due to medical bills from a family member's major illness.

6. Interesting about the sheriff's financial problems.

Oz isn’t going to help him with that.

Here, near Lancaster Co, the Oz signs have taken off in the past week. The Mastriano signs have been here since the primary. Most Mastriano/Oz people have the whole motley Repub crew planted in their yards. Disgusting.

A local school board member is part of Moms for Liberty and she’s become a local celebrity. She travels to neighboring areas to spread the word of book banning, anti-masking, anti-vaxing, and countering drag Queen shows. You should see them spreading the rumor of students being furries in school and dressing as cats and demanding litter boxes in the bathroom. None of this is true but they go berserk in commenting about it online. Truth be damned. We know how gullible they are.

4. Headline masks the truth for a race the media wants to be close

Fetterman's support is the same. Oz's number is probably just bouncing within the MOE. His support continues to be range from high 30s to low 40s.

That's a better lead that some of the other polls have been indicating. Shapiro's numbers are hanging strong as well.
