Low Mississippi River waters to impact Memphians

https://www.localmemphis.com/article/money/economy/mississippi-river-low-water-impact-memphis-tennessee-economy/522-2358538c-284f-4139-b2ea-e4ca1061b056

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Everyone from economists to engineers is keeping a close eye on the Mississippi River water levels, at risk of falling to record lows in the weeks ahead.

The dry conditions are also drying up how much crops river barges can carry, which could make the highest inflation of grocery prices in decades even worse in the months ahead.

Our ABC24 drone camera Monday found the Mississippi River in Memphis a shell of its former self, with sandbars prevalent and the seventh lowest level recorded over the weekend.

"I'll summarize it as significant," Michael Clay with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.

More at link. Title should have said this will affect everyone.

No rain is forecast for at least the next 10 days.

How it can be so dry for such a long time & still be at near 100% humidity is beyond me.

Dr told her to cut back on her chemo pills. Her blast numbers are encouraging...if ANYTHING can be encouraging when you have leukemia.
Stay well SL.

Yeah, we have like 100% humidity and South Texas all the time, but it doesn't rain.

It's called dew point. Don't feel bad, it's the same way in the Persian Gulf.

Ya, with the violent crime rate here (#1 in nation), pretty similar, I'm guessing.

I remember locals in MN telling me lakes were drying up. In 1998. 😏

I hope you get some much needed rain!

Seems rain is going to places that need it the least.
